Travel to Germany

Long Travel Day

Our Wittenberg English Ministry(WEM) journey began with our travel day, from Olathe KS to Wittenberg Germany. A 3:30 AM Uber ride from our home to the new Kansas City airport and a 6:30 AM flight to Detroit started our day.

After a long layover in Detroit, our connection of Detroit to Munich departed on time at 5:30 PM EST. Our 8 hour and 30 minute flight was 'enjoyed' by sitting in Delta Premium seating. This seating area had more leg room, free adult beverages and great Delta service. A few hours of sleep and
we landed at the Munich airport at 8:30 AM. Welcome to Germany.

Germany train transportation -
From the Munich airport we took the train to the Central Train Station in Munich. After standing in multiple lines to purchase our train tickets from Munich to Wittenberg, we boarded our train at 12:30 PM. The ICE train, which is known for being on time, was running one hour behind schedule today. A four hour train ride from Munich to Wittenberg allowed us a good nap, people watching and enjoy viewing the German countryside while traveling at 150 MPH.

Arrived in Wittenberg -
Our train arrived in Wittenberg at 5:30 PM. It was a short taxi ride to the Luther Hotel, our home for three nights. A short walk about town, dinner at the Wittenburger, and we returned to the hotel for a beer and wine nightcap.

Thirty-two hours since we left Olathe; it was time to close out the day.
